In the year 1941, the National park was expanded to cover Rajiv Gandhi National Park in the northwestern side, Kerala's Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in the southwestern part and Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in the Southern part Tamil Nadu. Together the four National reserves are called Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
Later, in 1970’s it was established as a Tiger Reserve and it was brought under ‘project Tiger’.  Around this time, it was established as the Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

The Bandipur National Park is the part of the largest preserved area in the Southern India. The park is located on the Mysore-Ooty highway of Karnataka. The main advantages of taking a Safari at Bandipur National Park are:
