The distance from Mumbai to Goa is around 600 km. The Ratnagiri Konkan route takes around 12-15 hours to cover. The Mumbai to Goa Roadtrip can be completed in one single day, but if you wish to enjoy the beauty of the attractions in between it can take a bit longer. The ideal time to start the journey is the early morning around 5am -6 am.
Once you leave your home go towards Panvel, take flyovers wherever possible as they will be traffic free. Then take NH17 where again traffic is likely to be less early in the morning. So you can put up a decent speed and proceed towards your destination enjoying the forest on both sides of the road. On the road, you can halt at Chiplun in Ratnagiri District. Soon after that, the road enters Western Ghats. Enjoy the beauty of the Western Ghats and the Vashishti River on your way.


After travelling some distance through Ratnagiri district, you enter Sindhudurg District after Talera.
Soon after this the Western Ghats section comes to an end. With the end of the Western Ghats, you reach the Goa border. Expect lots of traffic, especially trucks. About an hour drive you reach Panaji, the capital of Goa.
